PFAS: rooting ambitions for a toxic-free environment in a manageable process

On February 7, a new proposed restriction on Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, a group of over 10,000 man-made chemicals, was published by ECHA. This group, which has gained global recognition due to its widespread uses and many concerning properties, is set to become the broadest ever to go under a restriction process. As the EU sets a high bar to push forward its strategy for a toxic-free environment, how can this be implemented in practice? What are the challenges?
