Increasing of university education level is an indispensable prerequisite for development of long-term competitiveness and adaptability of human resources in all world economics, including Slovakia.
Professional public agrees in general that the quality of high education in Slovakia shall be increased by changes in funding system and motivation of students, contents reform and interconnection of research and development with industry, preparation of students on the basis of real need of labour market and other initiatives.
In order to fulfil these objectives, the universities have to support such initiatives, they have to identify themselves with individual changes and at the same time they have to be able to implement them.
EPPP considers that changes in university governance system are fundamental for achieving changes in higher education. Any positive changes leading to improvement of some areas within the whole high education system are doomed to partial or complete failure, if they are not supported by transparent management based on governance standards for public institutions.
EPPP works as an institution that initiates and enforces specific measures for improvement of efficiency of complex university management with primary focus on competences and real performance of managing boards, academic senates, scientific councils and other high management bodies of universities and individual schools.
The objectives of individual initiatives are achieved thanks to the following:
- Establishment of governance principles for strengthening rights of owners.
- Definition and enforcement of strategic competencies of university managing bodies.
- Change of university passive approach to active entrepreneurial approach on the basis of transfer of know-how between universities and private sector.

Globalization has become a part of our everyday life. And that is without regard to our attitude towards it, its definitions or prevailing heading of academic discussions about this phenomenon.
Despite many pros and developing possibilities it brings, globalization is not in its consequences socially neutral. Its impact on labour market, changed character of jobs and professions is truly a challenge for all sectors in the society. Broadly accepted solution is to adapt to new technological possibilities, more and effectively invest into lifelong education and development of human capital, support mobility of labour forces and reform social policies in the way that employees and organizations will be better prepared to react flexibly to quickly changing conditions, in order to raise their chances to succeed in competition.
Primary and direct benefit from these strategies has mostly got only one part – so called mainstream segment of population, what results in the fact that the difference and disadvantagedness of vulnerable groups and groups which (because of different reasons) distant from labour markets is cyclically growing.
Implementation of modern tools of social policies and labour market neutralizes potentially negative impacts of globalization and so precedes more serious society polarization growing into intergeneration and intergroup inequality.
EPPS’s aim through this initiative is to support the identification, development and realization of innovative procedures and practical solutions enabling work integration by globalization of the most threatened and socially vulnerable groups.
Objectives are reached mostly by:
- good practice theory development – so called age management, which creates conditions for employing older workers,
- good practice theory development – supported employment of groups of people like handicapped, members of ethnical minorities, migrants and long-term unemployed people.
