Learning Region – partnership for prosperity

On December 4, 2008 in Bratislava, National Conference for Implementation of National Program for Learning of Regions, named Learning Region – partnership for prosperity was organized Section of Life Education by Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. Marek Mitošinka, Manager of AJG Consulting and Program Officer of EPPP think-tank presented an expertise output – Qualitative Evaluation of Learning Regions Results in program period 2007 – 2013 within this event.

Learning region of Prešov municipality

Community Foundation Prešov, in cooperation with the Learning Centre Prešov organizes under the project supported by the European Social Fund conference Learning region of Prešov Municipality. Expert forum, which took place on November 5, 2008 in Prešov, is the culmination of the implementation of the project’s initial part and the implementation of the strategy of learning region. On the one hand, its aim was to present the local strategy and compare it with the strategy of Ministry of Education, on the other hand, the organizers aimed to define a new form of communication between the parties as necessary conditions for effective networking while implementing lifelong learning strategies. On the conference had a speech also Marek Mitošinka, the EPPP think-tank program officer. Under his leadership authorial EPPP team developed a Learning Region Strategy of Prešov Municipality containing the identification of priorities, goals and concrete follow-up measures facilitating the complete system of further education, development, monitoring and evaluation, which will be the main content of his speech.

EQUAL Community Initiative

In connection with the completion of the implementation of the EQUAL Community Initiative in Slovakia has been in Bratislava on November 4, 2008 held the final conference. Its organizers have set themselves the objective of following the mainstreaming strategy of developing partnerships and making the verified practices, achievements and innovative products brought to the attention of a wide range of experts from the public and the private sector and to get these practices reflected in the wider practice. The basic mission of the initiative as a whole was to create conditions and provide space for the search, verification and implementation of new approaches to solving problems in the fight against all forms of discrimination and inequality in the labour market. In the initiative through the activities of the National Thematic Network (NTS-C), aiming to promote the adaptability of firms and employees to structural changes has also participated the think-tank EPPP. Marek Mitošinka, EPPP program officer, acts as its Vice-Chairman since 2006. Among other things, he has greatly contributed to the elaboration and implementation of Thematic mainstreaming strategy, which assessment and the message was presented on the final conference. The chairman of NTS-C for the Business Alliance of Slovakia is Martin Krekáč, co-founder and chairman of the EPPP Board.

System of universities in Slovakia

Expert publication System of universities in Slovakia – reality, problem and possible solutions deals with basic facts and life and institutions of system of universities in Slovakia. Ambition of this material is not only to brief readers about basic life and institutions of Slovak system of universities, but also to identify problems of universities. Directly, in the beginning of analysis creation, author Miroslav Řádek and collective asked themselves fundamental questions, on which base was created compact material, focused right on these defined areas of universities´ performance.


Slovak Terminology Network – Social Policy and Employment Expert Group

Variety of thematic working groups of the Slovak Terminology Network (STS) has been set up by the Directorate-General for Translation of the European Commission (DGT) with the mission to cooperate on improvement of the linguistic and terminology aspects of the Slovak language used in legal and scientific texts. Members of the expert groups are selected on the basis of their professional expertise in the area of translation and inter institutional communication. Mária Nádaždyová, EPPP senior program manager, has accepted invitation of the DGT Slovak Language Department to become member of the Social Policy and Employment Expert Group.

Twinning Project: Review of the National Labour Legislation – FYROM

The European Council decided in December 2005 to grant the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) the status of a candidate country. The process towards membership requires that the country fulfils a complex set of obligations including the alignment of its legislation in the area of employment and social policy with the corresponding chapter of the acquis communautaire. Legislation on social issues and employment has an important role in public understanding and in the EU strategy. Think-tank EPPP participates on expert level in implementing the project having particular responsibility for the overall design and execution of the Training Program Component. Mária Nádaždyová, the EPPP senior program manager, is the component leader and assisting the Beneficiary Country in transposition of the Community antidiscrimination legislation.


Functional Review and Institutional Design of Ministries – FRIDOM Project

The Kosovo administration was re-built in an ad-hoc fashion after the war in Balkans. The need to increase quality and functional effectiveness of the administration and its overall capacity to deliver has become particularly important since declaration of Kosovo independence in February 2008. To achieve this goal thorough review of its public administration has been launched to scrutinize all ministries and horizontal functions of the government such as human resource management, procurement, E-government and others. The EPPP think-tank team participated in the Implementation phase of the FRIDOM project by collecting and processing relevant information on the organisational models, ministerial structures and overall functioning of the Slovak public administration serving, together with other seven EU member states, as objective comparators for the Kosovar reform policy options.


Learning region strategy of Prešov municipality

One of the main goals of the strategy is to establish regional center of progressive education. EPPP team was strongly participating to set up strategy which includes priorities, targets and action plan which creates complex system of lifelong education, its development, monitoring and evaluation.


Learning region strategy of Trenčín municipality

Latest trends on labor market are demanding new approaches also in Trenčín municipality. It is extremely important to work with changing information, produce new knowledge and implement them in real life. EPPP team analyzes present situation, defines strengths and weaknesses, and helps eliminate potential threats. Strategy proposes specific activities toward achieving defined goals.


Education model to develop HR management system in public sector

Human capital is a vehicle of knowledge and skills. In praxis, it is not rare that mainly organizations from private sector understand deeply the role of human resources management. It is also crucial for organization of public sector. EPPP team has focused for that reason on factor which mainly influences HR management system in organizations of public sector.
