JENEWEIN GALLERY: Right on time & Go west I M. Palonder
The 60th birthday of the singer, musician, music composer and teacher Marcel Palonder prompted us to present another exhibit from the music collection in the Jenewein gallery collection. Our cooperation began with the production of the competition song Right on time/Kým nás máš (text by Jozef Urban, music by Juraj Burian), with which he ranked on the 18th place at the 1996 Eurovision Song Contes in Oslo, Norway. This is Slovakia's best placement so far at the prestigious international music TV festival in the world. The hit Right on time was released on a separate CD in Slovak, English and in dance versions. In addition, there is a bonus track on the Go west CD with a special booklet introducing the Jenewein Group portfolio and people. The Jenewein Group was the producer of the CD and in addition to Marcel Palonder, other well-known artists participated in its creation – Juraj Burian, Daniel Mikletič, Katka Korček, Jozef Urban, Milan Illík and Svetozár Ilavský with a face motif from a limited series of colored wooden sculptures created especially for Jenewein Group. Marcel Palonder was 32 years old at the time of his success at the Eurovision Song Contes. He already had a successful musical career as a singer and member of the Czechoslovak music group Mandragora. He studied piano, composition and conducting at the conservatory in Bratislava, and later studied opera singing in Monaco. Already at the age of ten he performed with his own compositions. Lately, he has been mainly engaged in composing stage and film music, solo performances and studio work. In February of this year, he celebrated the above-mentioned 60th birthday, and we hereby join the numerous line of congratulators and wish him good health and joy.
